Airspeed indicator

Airspeed indicator displays the aircraft indicated airspeed, measured using an indirect manometric method. For the airspeed indicator operation, the device should be connected to a pitot tube via a system of air channels (see “Glance EFIS installation manual”).

airspeed and ground speed indicator

The vertical analog scale of airspeed and its current value digital indicator are located on the left side of the device display. When the aircraft speed increases, the scale scrolls down and the digit is shown in the indicator’s viewing bezel grows. The airspeed units of measurement are displayed in dark-grey under the airspeed indicator.

Attention, units of measurement of the same type are used to denote distance and speed. So, if you set kilometers as distance units of measurement, then speed, ground speed and distance are displayed in km/h and km. If you set miles, then speed and distance are displayed in knots and nautical miles.

The speed range of aircrafts in different configurations is marked with a color on the analogue scale. Speed type indicators (Vs0, Vs1) are displayed on the right of the air speed scale.

Flaps operational range is marked with white in the scale.

The lower value of the white range (Vs0) shows the stall speed or the minimum speed in aircraft landing configuration. The upper value of the white range shows the maximum full-flaps speed.

The operational range of aircraft speed is marked with green on the scale. The lower value of the green range (Vs1) shows the raised flaps stall speed. The upper value of the green range shows the speed after which comes the range of speed (marked yellow on the scale) close to the never-exceed speed (Vne).

The range of speed which is close to the never-exceed speed is marked yellow on the scale. The airspeed digital indicator turns yellow when the aircraft reaches this speed.

The range of speed which exceeds Vne that can lead to the aircraft breakdown is marked red on the scale. The airspeed digital indicator turns red, red LED lights on and, depending on the audio notifications settings and the device connection mode, the warning audio signal is produced when the aircraft reaches this speed.

Ground speed is shown in white under the airspeed units of measurement. Ground speed indicator displays the aircraft speed as per GPS/GLONASS. The device performs all air navigation route calculations based on the ground speed.
