EMS configuring is a process of engine monitoring system parameters configuring. Each parameter (which has a name of “port” in Glance complex terminology) defines the logic connection of a physical port of the engine sensor, the way of sensor signal conversion and the way the EFIS indicates this signal. The device can use internal EMS or get information from external EMS units.
General logic scheme of port configuration is below:
You need to properly configure physical ports to which the sensors are connected. Difference between internal and external EMS is that external EMS has more physical ports for sensors and, consequently, more ports for configuring.
Attention, the device doesn’t support use of external and internal EMS units at the same time. When using external EMS all internal ports switch off and the device doesn’t read and analyze information from them.
Each configured port of EMS system (internal or external) provides the EFIS with ready values of physical parameters of engine operation, for example, cylinder heads temperature, exhaust gas temperature, oil pressure and other. These values are transferred into the set units of measurement and are displayed as indicators on the device display. For correct indicators display you should set the allowed value limits for each of the engine monitoring parameters.
To use internal EMS unit select “Internal” value in “Use EMS” item of “EMS settings” menu.
To configure ports of internal EMS select “Configure internal EMS…” item and make the required configuration.
- Fuel tank –> To switch on fuel tank port. Then you should calibrate the fuel level sensor.
- Pressure port –> To calibrate oil pressure port.
- 1st temperature port –> To calibrate oil temperature port.
- 2nd temperature port –> To calibrate cylinder heads or engine coolant temperature port.
- Engine RPM –> To switch on engine RPM counter.
- 2nd rotor speed counter –> To switch on rotor speed counter.
- 1st fuel sensor calibration –> To start calibrating master of the first fuel tank sensor.
- 2nd fuel sensor calibration –> To start calibrating master of the second fuel tank sensor.
Conversion ways supported by the device are in the table below. In the next firmware versions, quantity and names of the conversion ways may be changed. To get updated information please contact Glance Avionics service center.
